BSNL to offer 3G services in 860 cities by December |
Launched 'Pyari Jodi' scheme for fixed line users New Delhi: BSNL is planning to extend its 3G services to 860 cities from the current 640 cities by the end of this year. Speaking at an event organised by BSNL, the Minister of State for Communications Sachin Pilot said that the state-run telecom operator would reach out to 120 more cities by December. BSNL which has 1.7 million 3G users at the end of September is expecting to increase the customer base to 2.5 million by March 2011. On the eve of Diwali, BSNL also launched a 'Pyari Jodi' offer for its landline customers in which all its existing as well as new landline users would get a free SIM card for BSNL mobile and can make unlimited free local calls to that particular landline number. The aim of this scheme mainly is to arrest the steep decline of landline users, at the same to boost the mobile subscriber base, Pilot said while launching the scheme. In the 'Pyari Jodi'offer the customer can also call two BSNL local numbers at a reduced rate of 20 paise per minute and one BSNL number anywhere in India at a reduced rate of 20 paise per minute without paying any additional monthly charges. |
